Why it's worth the wait

Why it's worth the wait

The slowest part of running a business built around handmade stone is the silence between batches.

Every Eden Stone bath and basin is made by hand, in small batches, by skilled artisans we've worked with closely for years. Resin, onyx and marble are blended and poured into moulds by hand. Each piece cures slowly. Each piece is finished by hand. And each piece carries slight variations in colour and fleck — the quiet proof that it wasn't stamped out by a machine.

It's also why, every now and then, a colour or a model runs out.

We don't pre-stock huge quantities. We don't run a warehouse full of identical units. When demand outpaces a batch, the next batch is already in production — and the only honest answer is that it takes the time it takes.

A container is on the water for weeks. Then there's port. Then there's customs. Then there's the run from the wharf to our warehouse. The moment the first packslip prints is the moment six months of patience pays off.

The trade-off is worth it. A handmade stone bath ages slower than mass-produced acrylic. The thermal cavity holds water temperature for longer. The piece reads as considered, not picked off a shelf. Each one becomes the hero of the room it lives in.

If you've been waiting on a piece from us, you'll hear from me this week — the new shipment has landed and orders are going out. If you've been thinking about a renovation and haven't committed to a bath yet, this is a good moment to take a look. Eden White, Eden Grey, Eden Black. All back in. All handmade. All designed in New Zealand.

The bath is the hero of the room. We give it the time it deserves.
